Valdís continued pacing around the barren landscape, bending her head to smell again at the ground. Her lips curled back in disgust. Yes, she was sure the the green color was caused by fungus or bacteria. Frustrated that her effort resulted in nothing she turned to go when she became aware that she was not alone. She turned to see a younger woman who asked her about the land. "I don't know, I think there is some kind of fungus or bacteria that is giving the land its color and that may also be what is preventing plant life from growing." She turned fully to face the other woman. "An unfortunate turn, to swim all this way for naught." She rolled her shoulders forward and cracked her neck.
