"Yeah..." Corvus started, shrugging a bit. He'd been young and he hadn't fully understood what was going on at the time. He had no doubt his parents wanted to shelter him from the reality of what had been going on, but as he grew older he'd begun to realize precisely what had happened. The Abraxas hadn't been some friendly pack sticking around to help them - far from it, despite their lack of violence. They'd only been that way because no one had protested.. right? He wondered now what might've happened had his family decided to fight back, but he didn't like that thought at all. Sometimes he wondered if the only reason his parents hadn't was because of he and his siblings.
"They're not a nice group. I'm pretty sure they overthrew some other packs back then. Sparrow, from what I remember, made a deal with them so that we wouldn't have to fight.. I don't think she wanted to risk losing anyone. And.. judging by their reputation, I don't doubt they would've done just that," Corvus said, almost conversationally. He was blissfully unaware that Thoery had gotten friendly with an Abraxas; if he'd had any idea, he surely would've spoken more carefully, but he found no reason to. His words had a seriousness to them, but he didn't want to be a total bummer. They'd survived anyway, hadn't they? "I think they thought we had more potential than we really did, to be honest. Everyone was pretty beaten down... we're lucky Shaye came when she did," Corvus admitted. A lot had changed since them, and he had no doubt that Abaven was infinitely stronger. "I think you're already pushing us into a better position. To defend ourselves, so something like that doesn't ever happen again," he reminded her, smiling slightly as he glanced at his cousin, hoping she knew she was indeed strong enough to carry Abaven forward into greatness.
