Mom wasn't mad at them. That much was good. The older wolf went on to explain about the end of the world and Asla shot Indy a bright look. "Maybe we can be the first ones to find the end of the world together, Indy!" The thought thrilled the young child. To make such a discovery with her beloved brother would be a great accomplishment.

Mom then lapsed into explanation and lecture. A lot of it went in one ear and out the other simply because so many thoughts were flying through the girls head, but she did hear her mother say that they needed to protect one another. "I'll always keep you safe, momma. You, Papa, Indy, Mort and Az. I'll protect all of you." That, she promised. She would do her best to carry out her mother's wishes, but... everyone knows how pups are.
