Life was indeed seeking out it’s natural rhythms and cycles. Things weren’t perfect yet, but the forage had improved, and the stallion had come out of the tough winter and spring, and gone through summer in good health and spirits. Granted his was a solitary existence, with the occasional whiff of another of his kind, fleeting and gone, but he was contented for the time being.
The Dancefloor, as he’d heard it called, was a decent place for a horse to live. The land was flat, the grass not tall enough to hide a predator, and the water was sweet and clear-running. The other prey animals kept to their own, and he moved among them as a solitary star in a palette of browns and fawns and earthen tones.
On this day, he grazed peacefully, tail flicking amiably from haunch to haunch, fending off flies as his form meandered aimlessly, following the next green patch of grass. Occasionally his head rose, teal eyes scanning the lands and herds before he returned to his meal.
His companions had returned to him, and with them came his armor, dragged faithfully. At the moment, they were scouting the surrounding lands, furthering his self-claimed quest to seek out the wolves that his mother had spent some years with. He didn’t expect either of them back for another day, but he wasn’t worried—they were savvy and knew how to survive and escape attack.
