The other night I had a dream

A routine is a series of planned actions regularly practiced, like a fixed program implemented in the back of one's head genetically instructing them on what to do next because the following tasks or behaviours are familiar. But to Karmen, the schedule of one action followed by another in periodic alignment was crusty and suffocating. She didn't partake in customs or duties that enabled her to check off her daily 'to-do list', but maybe that is why she always wound up aimlessly wandering alone, her face dry with boredom. Even though every night she discovered somewhere new to call her bed and graciously enjoyed the constant change in scenery, she still managed to find her life lackluster, and 'lackluster' and Karmen should never belong in the same sentence.
She fluttered her lashes and awoke this morning to overcast skies, with smudges of blue amongst the clouds to suggest that the day would clear up. Nuzzled snug and tight in a mountainside nook, she pulled herself free, shaking all the collected dust out of her golden locks. Immediately, she caught wind of a stranger and his breakfast - faintly - and turned her delicate face toward the only pathway in and out of the path: it was jagged and dark here, and the air was cluttered with tension, with the possibility that loud noises or abrupt movements could initiate a violent reaction of falling rocks. How dreadfully unfortunate that would be. And like the thoughtless nymph she was, she carelessly tossed away all concerns out the window and convinced herself to take a gander at the unknown passerby. Besides, there was only one way out of this wretched canal, so she was bound to stumble upon him sooner or later, and why not sooner?
Karmen sauntered down the rocky slopes and sparse weeds, her feet barely touching the ground as she feigned walking on air, a smirk lacing into her lips as she headed straight towards her morning entertainment.
