It had been many weeks since Sylvia last ventured from the Battlefield, her wounds from previous battles and fights taking longer to heal without proper healers around to tend to them. While the chocolate woman wouldn't call herself dumb in the field of medicine, she was far from a master, and a fair distance away from an apprentice. A small limp could be seen in her gait as she made her way to the water fall; a weekly trip made in the effort to bathe and clean her wounds. Now that fall was upon them, and winter trailing just behind it, Sylvia knew her trips would come to an end. She could hardly stand the bitter cold of the waterfall now, any colder and the woman just might risk losing a toe or two. Nevertheless, she marched onward, the roar of the falls easily heard from a great distance, and the sight of the towering mountain could be seen from even farther. Not only was the waters great for bathing, cleaning, and drinking, the land around the pool of the falls was teeming with life; both in prey and in plant life. On her previous journeys, the woman might be able to tackle down a bird or hare, maybe even slightly larger game if she was having a good day. But now that fall was frosting over the plant life, many of the snow birds and migrating herds were wondering south, and the plant life was barely able to cling to life. Sylvia sighed as she made her way to the edge of the waters, settling down on her haunches slowly and with a light groan. Her body ached and protested the long journey, so by the time she made it to the falls her body was sore and tired. It was miserable, and Sylvia nearly cursed out her cousin for urging her to these lands. And where was Valkyrie now? No where to be found. Not for months. Or had it already been a year? Sylvia could barely remember. Slipping her front end into the shallows of the shore, gritting her teeth as the frigid water lapped against her paws, Sylvia would lay in silence, pondering on her next best step once she healed. |
