Void hadn’t meant to startle the woman, but she recovered quickly as his eyes found hers and she nodded softly after his question. There were few moments in the boys life so full of emotion as the realization that the stars were gone after the eruption took place. He’d felt lost not only because his mother was gone, but also because he hadn’t even been able to take comfort in the sight of the stars in the sky. She offered more than a nod, and her voice took up its place in the early moments of night.
The star splattered yearling perked his silver marked ears as she explained her knowledge. Void wasn’t sure what constellations were, but he had enjoyed many nights looking into the sky and making pictures out of connected dots. ”Constellations?” He ventured to ask quietly, he’d never had anyone teach him anything about the stars. ”Void Destruction,” he answered her question easily and added, ”I’m from Abaven. What’s your name?”
