A growl and a flash of white. It was all the warning she received before another yearling split away from the group and came tearing across the grass, for her. Though it happened in an instant, it was barely a surprise — the she-wolf had been watching carefully, waiting for this.
She stopped pacing and pivoted to meet him face on, her weight gathered in her hindlegs. When he lifted up to slam his paws down, she darted to his right side.
The length of his right foreleg would crash along her shoulder. Meanwhile, ears pressed flat, she would twist her head like a snake and seek to score her teeth from the soft flesh of his right armpit and down along his side as she bolted forward in a hit and run attempt. Her own foreleg would also strike out to claw at his right back ankle as she soared past him, once again putting distance between the two.
