don't lose your fire

The little Warrior-to-be bounced on the balls of his feet, his wings swaying up and down as through cutting through the air in flight. When Odette appeared, the young boy grinned at her. She was often around, and always smelled like chicken. He had helped his sister guard her hutch on occasion, and as much as he sometimes imagines the taste of those plump feathered creatures, he had never so much as taken a bite.

“Hi Auntie Odette, you here to watch me kick Killian’s ass?” he joked, sticking his tongue out at her, like the young pup he was. When his mentor told them they were beginning, he snapped his attention back to the man.

“Okay!” he agreed, and launched himself forward with no further ado. He aimed to slam his shoulder into the man's chest to begin, and get himself up close and into the combat. From there, he would arch up his wings, big and long, and flick them forward and back again, snapping them in the general direction of either side of Killian’s head, to startle and surprise him.
