Azure had been taking his position as heir seriously, and upon realizing that Mortis took it upon himself to do patrols of the border he decided that he too should take hold of the responsibility. It didn't matter that he wasn't scheduled to actually patrol anything, nor did it matter that Sirius was already on patrol and that the border was as safe as it could be. He wanted to learn, and he was too proud to ask for lessons.

He stalked his father and sister as quietly as he could, observing their technique and practicing his hunting at the same time. It wasn't until he caught sight of the intruder that he abandoned any attempt at stealth, stomping up angrily alongside them. He recognized the man, it was the one who called him 'kid' and told him to move his ass. "Hey! You're wrecking our snow!" He complained angrily. It was gross and yellow now, and Azure hated it. Who knew when it'd go away? For all he knew, that part of his border might be yellow forever.

When Sirius initiated the fight Azure stayed back to only watch, he had no intention on receiving another strike to his heir rank. Not that his father needed his help.
