Tamsyn gave a small nod to Mortis' assessment of the coyote that was here to scavenge while everyone slept, but she could logically understand what had brought it here. It was hungry and here was food that it could potentially take. The only problem for it was that it had gotten caught stealing. As much as she could sympathize with the creature, that didn't mean she wasn't about to defend the pack's resources. She crouched down low to the ground and gave a small nod to her left, leading the way as she quietly moved around the edge of the clearing, keeping to the shadows and staying down wind as she moved till they were squarely behind the coyote. She knew that if someone like Sirius was here chasing off one coyote would be no problem, but in this case it was just her with limited real world fighting experience and Mortis who was still a pup - a large pup, but still young all the same. "You keep to the left, I'll go for the right," she whispered to Mortis, still staying crouched as she would if she was hunting. "We'll try to chase it to the border, okay? We'll fight back if it attacks us, but otherwise don't worry about pinning it down or anything like that. Just scare it off and do quick, dodging bites." With her recommendations and game plan in place, she turned her mint gaze back toward their target. Luckily it was still too focused on stuffing as much of the meal as it could into its mouth to notice them. She started to creep forward, getting as close as she thought she could dare without it noticing them. When they were a handful of feet behind it, Tamsyn leapt forward with a growling snarl, the fur on her hackles bristling as she bared her teeth at the coyote to try and make herself look bigger and more intimidating. The coyote startled and spun around to face them, immediately trying to lash out and bite at her. She hopped back out of the way with another growl, snapping her own teeth in return. She tried to keep the coyote's attention on her while she began to wear away at it's instinct to fight. Tam left the coyote's hind legs and sides open for Mortis to get in any licks he wished to contribute and mostly just tried to keep the creature's attention so it didn't have a chance to turn its frantic attacks toward the pup. She stayed light on her feet and made quick snaps toward the coyote's shoulder and neck, purposefully leaving an opening to her right for the coyote to eventually try to escape whenever it finally had enough of this. |
