He scooped down and gave the much smaller wolf a nuzzle, tickling under her chin with a paw. “Want a ride back to the palace?” he offered. She was still easily small enough to ride on his broad back. Likely, she would be small enough for a very long time.

He frowned when she said that Chimera said they would get her. “My big brother is scared of ghosts too, but i’ve never seen one” he promised her. Telling her both that even big scary wolves could be scared of things, and also that he didn’t think they existed.
