Askan had been dozing off, curled up tight as he enjoyed the peace and quiet when a sharp clap of thunder jolted him awake. His eyes flashed open as his hackles puffed up, all sharp and spiky like a spooked cat. His ears twitched at the sound of  the torrential rain outside and his mind put two and two together; it was just a storm, nothing to get all worked up over. He closed his eyes once more, ready to settle back down, only for his ears to flick to attention once more. It was faint at first, muffled by the falling rain, but with each passing second the sound came closer and became all the more recognisable. Footfalls.

With a grumble, Askan pulled his head up and glared over his shoulder. It took a moment for his eyes to adjust but soon enough he saw a stranger waltzing on in and plopping herself down just as he'd done not moments ago. He scowled for a long, lingering moment. How the hell had she not noticed him? Had the rain dampened her sense of smell, or was she just that oblivious? Askan was inclined to think it was the former. It was awfully petty of him, of course, the cavern was plenty big enough for the two of them and it wasn't as though she'd sat on him. But well...sometimes it was like he wanted to get worked up over nothing, like he was most comfortable when he was at his meanest.

"Yeah sure, make yourself comfortable why don't you." He rumbled, like he had any claim over these caverns.

She was a strange sight though, as if from the neck down she'd been dipped in tar. She didn't glow in the dark, not did she have tusks like a boar so she wasn't exactly an oddity but even now Askan still stubbornly clung onto his idea of what a wolf should look like. And this stranger didn't exactly fit the bill.
