Had she thought harder about it Poem might have felt bad about not matching the man’s upbeat tune. Still, when the tone changed to better meld with the emotional sounds of her voice the tears welled and fell over her pale cheeks. Letting the emotions out was cathartic, in her song and in her tears, but after she felt the song reach its height the cave grew quiet again. Sparhawk fell silent and Poem trailed her song off before blinking open her blue and lavender eyes. She found Sparhawk’s soft ruby gaze on her.
His concern was obvious and genuine, just as real as her sister’s or Corvus as he sought the cause of her sorrow. Dark ears fell to her skull and she felt shame for her emotions. The girl sank into herself as she averted her gaze. Was she being silly for holding onto her sorrow as heavily as she did, or was it natural to feel like this. To feel like happiness would never find her again?
”I thought it was because of how much i miss my mom.” She whispered softly, closing her eyes as she tried to chase away the conflicting feelings and the pain of loss that was still so strong. ”I’m not sure that’s everything though. I can’t put it into words just… how unfair life is.” Frustrated with her inability to articulate she grasped hold of the skin and took another drink, this time an obvious swig instead of her earlier timid sips.
