Really, Pach had drawn the shortest straw in the match: a wolverine sandwich between two creatures much, much larger than he was. With the spar coming to an end, he growled and rolled away, spitting in a way that might be ferocious if it wasn't so darn cute. Poor guy. The fight out of her mind for a moment, Mal twisted over to poke him good-naturedly, humming a sorry. He sniffed, and turned his back to both wolves, even as Cairo asked after him.
She rolled her eyes and rose to her feet, giving her companion a quick once-over. "He's okay. I believe the only thing you hurt was his pride." And maybe Pach wasn't the only one, but the thrill of a good spar more than compensated that tiny sting from losing. It didn't hurt to hear the praise either.
Her eyes narrowed at the little poke, but she couldn't hold it for long before a tiny grin broke over her maw. "Yeah, well, that's the plan." She might have lost, but hey, she was improving, wasn't she? Her smile grew, her gaze sweeping over her companion. They both were. They still had a lifetime to go before their coordination became seamless, but Pachou was bright and learning every day. The kit had come so far from when they'd first met.
Mal snorted faintly. She turned to Cairo and poked his paw right back before dancing away, one paw suspended in the air. "So... what was that thing you said about 'spontaneous playtime'?"
