“Auntie Deathbelle?” he asked, like there were any other Empresses in his life. His grin only grew, and his tail took on a merry dance behind him. “I didn’t! Think she’ll let me see it some time? Did she and Dad hunt the polar bears together?” he asked, thinking about the one in their family den. He had to admit, a polar bear coat would make a wicked piece of armour. She hinted at how hard a polar bear was to hunt down, and he returned her sly smile for one of his own, wiggling his eyebrows at her. “Well. I don’t know about you, but I enjoy a challenge” he teased, all bravado. Perhaps being raised by a Warlord wasn’t terribly good for the ego. At least he still lost a few of his spars, plenty of time in those matches to bring him back to earth. He could only hope that one day he too would win almost every fight he entered in. |
