The shock in the other wolf's voice was enough to make Motif flinch. She had mostly managed to convince herself by this point that the other meant her no harm. But still, it seemed the timidness had seeped deep into her nature. She hated herself a little for it. “I… I don’t know about that, Winter was my mother's friend. When she passed, she chose to stay with me” Motif explained, her stammering happening just a little less as the conversation continued. Her smiles stayed a fraction longer.

Her tail lapped against her toes thoughtfully, wondering who the ‘Ancients’ were that Rhaegara spoke of. A shadow fell over the girl, as the white raven returned from her scouting, and found Motif with a companion. The raven circled the group once, and then landed gently on the larger girls shoulders. Her talons digging into plush fur, and beady eyes fell upon the strangers.
