Valdís shifted and fidgeted until she was comfortable and there she would rest, listing to the sounds of the insets and birds. It was cooler beneath the shade and she watched with amusement as the pup tried to catch a frog. Her eyes gazed down the riverbank, keeping a look out for crocodiles and other predators when she spied a small, dark wolf. Her hackles raised but she said nothing.
