She lashed out at his wings, and he winced as her sharp claws cut through feathers to flesh. He hissed out his next breath, but let it roll over him. Despite his age, he was already well-scarred from rough practices.

His teeth found her shoulder, but hers found his ear. He yelped, for they slid neatly into his soft flesh. He lashed out, almost blindly, kicking at her with his front paw. Softening the blow at the last moment, and only just. For, despite his pain, he would not forget his commitment to not hurting her.
