Ulric had admittedly expected the other man to make the first move since he had initiated the call for a spar, but he had no problem in taking that first step if he so wished. When he saw the small nod that was given to him the message was plenty clear enough. With a slight grin he coiled his muscles as he prepared to launch his first attacks. He spent a brief second deciding what the best approach would be, but there would be no way to know how this stranger would react so there wasn't a way to temper his attacks to fit him specifically.
Leaning into the advantage he had with his larger build and frame, he lunged forward with a few long strides to hopefully close the distance between the two of them. He kept his head low to help protect his throat and his hackles were raised with his shoulders rolled forward to keep his scruff thickly bunched around his neck. Since he was going in head first he wanted to make the most vital parts of him as hard to hit as possible. He ran forward like a freight train, angling his path slightly to his right so he could aim his left shoulder toward the other's chest. In a perfect world he wanted his shoulder to connect with the middle of his opponent's chest with the hopes of knocking him off balance or even knocking the air out of him, but he also knew that the possibility of him trying to dodge the attack was pretty high.
Knowing that would most likely be the case, he tried to use his first attack as a distraction. Once he was within close range, he reached with open jaws toward the man's scruff and attempted to get a strong hold on him there so he could potentially get the upper hand and dominance in their fight. Of course he had no intention of badly hurting a complete stranger so he only aimed for the thickest part of his scruff where he would be able to grip the loose skin there if he was successful. All the while he kept his large paws set in a widened, stable stance with his claws dug into the dirt so he would be prepared for any push back his opponent tried to give him.
