The Ooze ParticipantThe Ooze - Variation 3Critical Fail!Valentines 2020
07-31-2020, 05:27 PM (This post was last modified: 08-04-2020, 06:20 PM by Aurielle.)
Come one, come all! Valhalla is holding its second festival!

Locations: Dancefloor of the Gods and Sweetgrass Basin!

Run-Time: Two Weeks IC, and to the end of Spring OOC, so everyone gets a chance to attend if they want to.

Time: Mid to Late Spring! (Probably mid, because I can’t stand waiting and wanna do festival stuffs) two weeks long! Everyone can get a chance to come and attend.
All packs and Loners are welcome to come, and a Peace Treaty will be in place. If you have problems with someone at the festival, go elsewhere to settle your differences, or leave.

Activities: Hunting, Fights, Trading Fairs, music, plays, races, contests! Any suggestions, throw ‘em at me :D Volunteers for dice rolling? Hit me up, because I am abysmal at things like that. Also, I have no idea how to properly use Challonge for brackets… halp ;_;

So, like last festival, this will be a multi-day affair of fun, relaxation, feasting, and simply, enjoying one’s self. There will be music, dancing, story telling nights, trading opportunities, pup-friendly activities and gatherings for the young to make friends their own age on the Dancefloor.

In the river bisecting the two lands (Dancefloor and Basin) there will be fishing contests, scavenger hunts, hunting games, and tracking contests for the hunters.

Biggest Bison: Who can bring down the largest bison on the plains? (Dice roll determines sizes of what the team has brought down once the hunt is completed)

Witty White Tails: Deer can be agile and tough to corner and bring down. Who can bring them down and process them the best and most efficiently?

Braces of Hares: Those rabbits aren't the best eating, but their coats are plushy and soft. Those to catch and skin the most win a prize. (TBD what that is...)

Groundhog Day: Anyone up for a game of whackahog? Catch as many as you and your hunting partner can.

Flash of Scales: Do you have the patience to catch a fish? How many can you catch? Who will catch the biggest fish?

Tan the Hide off Me!: Who's the best at skinning? The best at tanning hides to the buttery soft inside.

Teams: Teams of up to six wolves can gather for the hunting contests. You can choose your team mates, or I can randomize a list for you to spice things up (you might end up having to work with someone you normally wouldn't want to.)

Across the Dancefloor and up into surrounding lands and the Basin and surrounding lands, there will be races of endurance and speed, agility and navigation skill that will challenge the eyes to spot the next ribbon. (To be marked on the site map.) It will be grueling, challenging, and prizes will be had for the first five to cross the finish line.

Teams: You can choose your team mates, or I can randomize a list for you to spice things up (you might end up having to work with someone you normally wouldn't want to.)

Fighters of all skill level will meet at the bottom of Sweetgrass Basin each night to battle it out, coming out at the end of the festival with the finals, and at last to crown the champion that battled through them all to win. Alphas from each pack attending will stand as judges (unless participating in a fight).

IN all the surrounding lands and the two designated festival lands, the Healers will have their own competitions of sorts—gathering herbs in teams of two to four. The team to gather the rarest or most herbs, or the best-preserved wins a prize for each member. There will also be healer’s gatherings and group teaching sessions to share knowledge. There will be crafting sessions and lessons.

Bring all your trade goods! From baubles to livestock. (Escaping livestock will be eaten. :P jk)
Be sure to have a loose list of the items for trade (IC posts don’t need to be specific, nor do there need to be any serious specifications in the form, but give us a loose idea of what your wolf/pack brings.

Your wolf does not necessarily have to have the skills the contests are technically meant for. Your non-navigator, for instance, can still join the races for fun, can join the hunts, the trading, the healing, whatever. I will be providing prizes regardless. We're here to have fun, and what fun is it to be excluded from something just because it's outside your skill set?

Forms?! Yup! Here ya go.

These are the courses for the race.

At each spot in the race (into each land) there will be clues in the form of sneakily placed pawprints made with paint. They might be at ground or wolf height, or they could be placed high. Your characters will have to use their eyes and judgment to find them and follow them. The paw prints each team should follow will be in that team's color, and won't necessarily be in the same spot as another team so that the next team has to look for their own ribbon.

The ribbons themselves will be placed in hard to reach spots where a navigator has to use their head to reach them, or use a clever way to get the ribbon to their level. The ribbons are long enough to go around even the largest wolf's necks, so no worries about figuring out where to put them as you go.

Let's seeeee. It can be assumed there will be judges tucked away to watch the contestants to ensure they don't cheat in finding the ribbons.

Pups/Beginners: You will have the easiest, shortest course, but even this one won't be a cakewalk. Where there are no natural hazards or obstacles, wolf-made ones have been built, from slick mud pits to rock tumbles.. Starting in the Dancefloor, they cirle around the outer edge of the land, cross over into Whisperer's Gorge, where they must venture into the caves and tunnels and find their way out again, and cross down into Travelers Lake heading south. They must then make their way around the outer edge of the lake and travel along the edge of the desert lands before swering up into Sweetgrass Basin, for a speed race until they reach the river bisecting the Basin and Dancefloor, and race again to the finish line after fording the river.

Novice to Intermediates: The course is longer, more grueling, challenging the contestents with desert, ocean, darkness, and and mountain climbing here and there. As with all the races, the teams start out in the Dancefloor, curving northeast around the northern edge of the dancefoor and veering south into Whisperer's Gorge, deep into tunnels and weaving between both sides of the gorge until they come out at the southern edge, where they must delve into the Descensum and return with a ribbon before working their way through the Redwater Rocks and edge along the outside of Valhalla's northern border before trekking northward over Sand River. Upon reaching the Basin, they must then veer out to sea, crossing onto Emerald Isle, around the outside, and back across to the mainland, through the Basin, and into Traveler's lake before heading north to finish in the Dancefloor after fording the river.

Advanced to Masters The longest course, the most challenging. (Full description to come soon. Brain needs a moment... lol See map above and imagine the most death-defying, hair raising, terrifyingly hard route wyou can, it's probably in it.)
