With the bait in place and their quarry distracted, the time had come to do what they were here to do. The young wolf dove from cover first. His jaws latched around the long, wrinkly neck of the bird. It flapped and squawked, but she couldn't watch the show. It was her turn.
The second condor took to the air and Resin had to take a running jump to reach it. Teeth snapped into its tail feathers. A few came off in her mouth, but the action was enough to bring the bird to ground. Bird and beast clattered to the earth. The condor tried to take off again, but she was on it. It continued to try and flap, but she soon had her jaws around its throat.
