Looking for Opportunity

The sun was just raising up in the sky, puffy clouds could be seen farther out. Would they stay white or start to darken? Either way they weren't close and so far no strong winds to blow them in. Naiche was watching for fish towards the edge of the water. It would be great if he caught one but not a real concern. Naiche was mostly here waiting to see if an opportunity would come up for a fight but it wasn't very productive to sit and wait.
Naiche did best hunting in low grass or rocky areas so fishing was not a strong point. There was no time like the present to practice and he was quickly finding fishing could be an excellent source of food if one is desperate. Naiche doubted he would ever be desperate for food again but the wheat-colored wolf likewise believed that one should always learn as much as possible. No one planned or expected big changes in life but they were real. What made fishing great? It didn't take as much energy as chasing down an animal. Naiche knew it sounded lazy but energy was not a thing to waste lightly, there could be times conserving energy was the only way to live. The young would wondered if he would ever stop thinking of everything as how to survive, or even if he should. Was it paranoia or good sense?
He snapped at another fish in the water, and while he missed that didn't bother him. All things take time. Naiche turned his head to look back at the battle area. Fishing was really just a thing to do while waiting for the more important matter, aiming to find someone else wanting a good spar.
