Looking for Opportunity

The water dripped off his muzzle as Naiche watched the fishes dart about. The sound of paw steps sand then a voice had Naiche's head turn. Perfect. Hopefully, this wolf would want to spar. Hopefully, it was competent enough for Naiche to learn from the spar. Naiche preferred to win but if he lost it meant there were lessons, he could learn from such a fight.
Naiche approved of his greeting. Name, rank and greetings offered with no other rambling chatter. Naiche turned his body to fully face the brown and white wolf. Naiche observed he was taller, but not to the same degree as some wolves here. The jaguar also got a momentary look, it was a more substantial companion than some of the smaller creatures he'd noticed. Naiche wasn't too sure he really wanted some other animal constantly beside him.
"The names Naiche. Thank you for the greeting." Only a moment pause before adding, "You mentioned being a warrior. I'm sure you have plenty of jobs to be done, but would you have time for a fight? I need practice." This guy didn't seem to care about small talk, Naiche didn't care about small talk, so why have it?
Naiche took a few steps forward, just enough to get his feet out of the water. The guy was a good bit bulkier than Naiche, but that was pretty normal. Naiche would never have the muscle of some, but he had pretty good stamina and some speed. Naiche needed more of both to give him any sort of edge.
