Naiche was hating himself for his earlier insecurity. Never, never would Naiche hesitate again. That moment was passed and replaced with newfound determination. The wheat-coated wolf felt Dunkan’s weight on him, lunging forward then spinning sideways towards the wolf to try and both get Dunkan’s weight off of him and bite at the brown wolf’s scruff ior whwatever he could reach nstead. Focusing on Dunkan meant not being able to give much attention to the cat.

Naiche didn’t attempt to dodge the cat’s bite, didn’t even seem aware of it until the cat connected. With his attempt to get Dunkan off of him Naiche’s movements would hopefully keep the cat from getting a second chance. Whether that worked or not didn’t matter. The plan was flawed but simple. Do all in his power to attack Dunkan and worry about the cat only if avoiding it didn’t mean losing a chance to attack Dunkan.
