Hanako stepped back, a little startled when Mortis leapt-or rather staggered- to his paws. She blinked at him, her eyelids just as heavy as her limbs, only to glance away at his statement. Not a question. What was she supposed to say to that? Even if it wasn't her fault sorry just didn't cut it, it wouldn't mend the hurt he felt or fill the void Malalia had left behind. But she still wanted to try, to comfort him as best as she could and surely that had to count for something and maybe that's even what Malalia would want.
For as tired as she was it was plain to see that the Fatalis was in worse shape, barely awake as he insisted they go and search right this very instant. Usually Hanako would have agreed to do whatever he wanted but...he wasn't in a state to be going anywhere, least of all to wander off into the wilds. Besides, she was hardly ready to go running off again, she worried if she tried her paws would fall off! Instead she moved in close, nudging Mortis with a gentle shoulder bump as to not knock him over. She wanted to lean against his tall and strong frame, to take the weight off her own throbbing paws but she knew he couldn't manage that right now. So instead she made do with a soft, fleeting touch.
"No, not yet. I'm really tired Mort. Can we sleep a little and then go?" She knew if she asked him to do it for his own sake he'd swat his well being aside, like he thought he didn't matter. But he did, that was a fact she'd had to drill into him someday but not now, not when he could barely speak.
