Lament Pyre

He paused in his stretches, and looked back to the Empress as she admired his backside. He laughed softly, shaking out his limbs to finish the exercise. He hadn’t spent as long on his stretches as he usually did, but he knew an invitation when he saw one.

“Personally, I like the view better here” he teased, brushing a paw down her forehead and noise, before leaning forward to kss the little black twitcher. At her behest, he curled up into her again. The warmth of her belly was certainly inviting, and he stretched out against her, languid and content. “So, not a dream then?” he mused, half teasing half truth. The light of day did not dispel her for an illusion. She was as solid and real now as she had been in his arms in the night.

“So, why is and Empress here, on this little island?” he asked. Remembering the sadness that had been in her before he had arrived. What had driven her to this place?
