Hanako wasn't sure what to make of that. She ought to have been happy though, right? She really liked it here so the thought of staying and being betrothed to... Well, her future had always been such an abstract concept, distant, unknown and completely outside of her control. More times than she could count she'd conjured up pretty images in her mind, a perfect life with a perfect stranger, the details changing on her whim depending on her mood. Everything just worked, ended up exactly the way she wanted it like a story with a happily ever after. The end. But reality could never match up to fiction, somewhere deep back in the recesses of her mind she knew that, she just didn't want to face the facts. Not yet.
"Mm, of course. Thanks for the dance."
And with that she was off, hopping back to centre of the party to find someone less confusing to mingle with.
