She couldn’t see him but she could feel as he lowered himself to the ground beside her and fluffed his wings around her as they lay there. Siren ignored him as best that she could, but it was hard. He was warm and quiet. Everything felt wrong, like her whole world had been turned upside down. What a fool she was for having said anything at all, for letting Mort see so much. Siren knew that everything would be different, that she had ruined it all.
She curled more heavily in on herself, eyes closed tighter, but feeling him settle in beside her for the long haul. This wasn’t happening, it couldn’t be happening. A soft whine slipped out of her lips as she pleaded with herself internally and rejected reality. Deer. Waterfalls. Chi. Her tiny body shuddered at the thought of him. She wanted to make all the bad feelings go away, the only way was to appease her brother.
”Bad things, Mortis.” Siren spoke softly as she loosened slightly. By now all of the excitement was starting to get to her and she was becoming exhausted.
