Bait was a fine hunter. He had great timing in jumping up to land on the unsuspecting of fleeing prey. Nothing could escape him! Admittedly the red fox always felt this to be true however, right now when he had drunk just a bit too much he felt it all the more true.
Mice and rats were out of the picture. Today he was taking in a flock of seagulls. Now, it was true that they could fly and he could not. It was likewise true for some reason the ground seemed to collapse under him more than it use to, but that was surely just how the sand worked here and had nothing to do with his sense of balance after a bit too much to drink. So he was drinking a portion designed for a wolf and he was a bit smaller. None of this was a concern.
So there the red fox was charging a group of seagulls, his floofy tail up high and proud as he launched himself at a flock of seagulls that easily took to the air after his clumsy attempt. Since when could a gaggling of birds stand up to the power of Bait? He charged in for a new attack and once more they flew up. A third time and this round two of the seagulls hovered and screamed back, a third tried to dive on the fox.
Bait lunged up, got a seagull in his mouth, got hit by a seagull bill, and let go in surprise falling with an ‘oof’ on the funny black sand grains. Funny how this was harder after drinking just a tad.
