Wyndelin started the chase and Halla followed close behind. She leapt forward, racing toward the old bull. The sudden appearance of the wolves startled the bison. They scattered, their hooves echoing across the ground like thunder. They moved like water, flowing and shifting over the land as they ran and for a moment Halla lost sight of the target but as she scoured the hind ranks of the fleeing herd she saw the old bull. He was already trailing behind. Halla bounded forward, her legs eating up the distance between herself and the bull. She neared the bison's left side and snapped at it's front leg, piercing flesh and causing it to swerve toward the right. Nolan took care of the rest of the herd and between them the wolves managed to separate the old bull from the rest of the bison.
