Aslatiel and Úlfr got the hunt started, chasing after the bison and exciting them to run. Star took off close behind, seeking to keep up with the quicker wolves and zeroing in on their target. As the bison scattered and ran the wounded cow soon moved from the middle of the herd to the back as she struggled to keep up. Beat sprang out of hiding and cut the cow off. She skidded to a halt, making a show as if she was going to fight. Star didn't stop but instead dove right for the cow's throat. Fangs latched hold of the cow, just below the jaw bone, the wolf's weight pulling her head to the ground. She shook her head violently, starting to move forward. Star hoped the others would jump on soon to slow the cow. Moments passed and soon the cow began to weaken, falling to its side where it eventually passed.
