This Guy Has Some 'Isms" I've Never Even Heard Of

Lynvarr was grateful for the silence as it allowed him to focus on the climb. He was panting now as they worked their way through the treacherous mountains. This area suffered frequent erosion and as such the rocks here were loose and unstable, frequently giving away to landslides. Another reason to be thankful for the lull in conversation. A breeze started to twist down from the north, the coolness to its air helping to relieve some of the heat his body was generating from the strenuous climb. Silence hung over the mountains. Even though it was summer there was little to be heard in the way of birds or small mammals. He'd seen mountain goats here on occasion but they tended to wander toward the lower elevations where vegetation was more plentiful. For now it seemed he and Shilah were the only two living creatures that dared to traverse the mountains. He paused at another small pine tree and scratched a marker in it. The width of the tree was no bigger than one of his paws so he had to be careful not to crack it.
