They continued climbing, up and up and as they did the air got colder and colder. Lynvarr's ears flicked forward at the sound of rocks tumbling down the slope. He didn't know if it was the wind that had stirred the rocks loose or if a mountain goat or other creature was also traversing the terrain. He spied a few caverns and cave entrances as they hiked but he preferred to see where he was going when he traveled if at all possible. Finding another small, twisted pine he scratched markings into it. They would soon reach an elevation above the tree line but at that point he hoped to turn his way south toward home. Well, his temporary home anyway. Come autumn he'd join a pack. He had yet to decide which pack it would be but there was one here in the north that might be an option unless he desired to break away from his usual terrain.
