Azure's surprise showed briefly at mention of Hanako being sold as a bride and not as a slave, though he firmly shoved the thought - and red hot panic - down to deal with the matter at hand. He'd think upon what this meant for his lie later, and not allow the fact that right now his best friend might be considering him his fiance affect this discussion. Azure wouldn't let anything come between him and their murder. He looked his father in the eye, his expression pleading. "I... I think I love her, dad. Please, we can't risk it." If Azure had to fall to his knees before the Empress and beg her understanding, he would. If she demanded something in return, he'd pay any cost to ensure the safety of his friend.
