The girls brow furrowed as he spoke. He didn't seem to be in any pain either. So, again, what in the hell was going on here? His words made no sense. It looked to her like he was just laying there. Like he could get up at any moment and everything would be okay. Yet he claimed to be blind and crippled? "What happened?" Aslatiel needed to know. She needed to get Basilisk back to Iolaire so that she could heal him. Asla's heart hammered in her chest. Of course she had feelings for Bas. He was her guard. Her friend. She didn't want anything to happen to him. This whole situation was just so strange.

His next words brought her movements to a halt. Permission to leave her service? It was a good thing that he couldn't see, for her gaze probably would have turned him to stone. When she was finally able to speak, her words were sharp and cold like ice in the veins. "Basilisk, you will never ask that of me again." It was an order. An honest to god, straight forward order. He would never again request to leave her service. In this instance, she would most definitely play the part of master. What a moron...

"Help me get him in the cart." Aslatiel spoke to the bear and leopard. Together, the three of them would do their best to hoist the giant form of Bas into the cart. That only left the problem of how Asla was going to get all the way home. Ashur and the bear couldn't pull them both. Without a choice, she would do her best to walk. If anything, they could come back for her later. She wasn't at risk though. Bas was. She would gladly sit out in the swamp for a while until she could be fetched.
