With the injured woman taken care of Tyrian could turn his attention fully to Halla. The skills necessary to be a master hunter coincidentally helped make one a good herdsman too. Fireside was always on the lookout for capable wolves. The pack was set to expand here shortly which meant soon enough it would need another land to support all of its inhabitants. More land and more wolves meant more hunting, herding and yes, raiding, to make everything work. They could use another good hunter.
"There will always be a place for skilled hunters in Fireside, and the Finnvi have been a welcome addition to our ranks," he said as he considered her. "I would wager this pack is different than what you're used to, however, so I feel it necessary to tell you a bit about it so you can make an informed decision." He would hate for her to be focused on joining her family that the Fireside lifestyle came as a surprise. "While we do plenty of wild game hunting, we also raise our own prey animals. In fact, that is a key facet of our lives here. Even if animal husbandry doesn't interest you, the odds of your duties occasionally including it in some way are pretty good. You should know that up front."
He went on, "In addition, all new recruits go through a trial period before being accepted as full members, so for your first season or so you can expect to help the herders take care of the sheep and goats in addition to your hunting duties. Everyone, hunters, healers, even fighters, starts there in the hopes that no matter where your interests take you, you'll have an appreciation for the most basic of Fireside tenets." The work was simple and it would be paired with a hunting lite version of her duties as a hunter in order to ease her into pack life. At the end of her trial period if she still wished to join them, Halla would graduate from the herder duties to the full time rank of her choosing.
