A triumphant grin spread across Artorias' face when his stick made contact with Rudy's rump, but it had been less effective than he'd hoped for. Could it be that his stick was more of a hindrance than a useful weapon? As if to add evidence to that concern, Rudy came for him again. Artorias swung his stick at his brother's head, aiming at where he predicted his brother was going—except Rudy went underneath his swing. Oh no, too late! Rudy had gotten in close, and then he felt his brother's teeth dig into his lower jaw. Artorias let out a surprised yelp, unable to shake Rudy off this time without hurting himself further. He couldn't get Rudy with his weapon, and the stick now only impaired his ability to counter.
With reluctance, Artorias was forced to switch up his approach. Artorias spit the stick out of his mouth, then brought a paw up to swing wildly at Rudy's face, claws aiming for his cheek and muzzle. He was careful to not go for his brother's eyes; he wanted Rudy to get off of him, not maim the boy. He needed to get Rudy off of him and put some space between them so he could counterattack more effectively. Now disarmed, Artorias would have to rely on his teeth and claws, as well as his physical advantage over his slightly smaller brother.
