The Warlord had looked for the witch that had hurt his Reaper, and found no sign of her. No evidence she had ever been. He was one part sceptical and two parts a believer in his wolf's story. He knew Magnus would not deceive him, and the strange loss of his sight lent credibility to the tale. When Basilisk had been dragged home with the help of his daughter, paralised and raving about a Witch - Sirius just wished this was a threat he could kill. He contemplated putting the paralised wolf out of his misery, but knew he would lose his daughter in the process.

He kept Magnus company so his Reaper could not wallow too effectively with his lst sight. Today, that brought them towards the Soulless Forest, where the mists were a constant presence. Rendering Sirius almost as blind as his companion.

Magnus caught the scent before he did - perhaps that was something that could be said for one sense shutting off - the others became sharper. A moment later Sirius caught it too, a woman had been her recently with her brood. Marshal, who winged further ahead, and seemed to have better success penetrating the fog let out a soft coo. “What's that bird found now” Seer murmured frowning as he turned in the direction Marshal had alerted from. A few steps later and “Do you scent a child?”
