Nice to meet you

Ezra had gotten into the habit of leaving the den around the same time that his father did early in the morning when he left to do his patrols. It was partially just to spy on his father and see what all the fuss about these patrols was about, but also so that he could see everything waking up. The sun rising, the dew on the grass starting to dry, the birds in the trees starting to wake up and make noise... he liked all of that stuff. Plus, it got him out and away from the den before most of his siblings woke up so that satisfied his independent soul and his desire to be on his own first thing in the morning. It made all the time he spent with them toward the end of the day a bit easier so that his day was more balanced.
Now that the sun was fully up and the rest of the pack and seemed to get started with their days as well, it was harder to wander around and explore without bumping into someone else. That was fine by him - one or maybe two other wolves was a lot easier to handle than a whole bunch all at once. Besides... he still had to make sure his siblings were okay and weren't getting hurt or something, right? So he tried to at least sneak a peek at each of them throughout the day just to make sure they were alright, even if he didn't interact with them a whole lot. Today though, he was a bit more in the socializing mood than usual and when he found Jane near the Hot Springs he went toward her rather than going the other way.
"Hey, Jane," he said as he trotted over to her, noticing how energetic and excited she seemed - though that seemed to kind of be her normal state. "What're you up to?"
