With two attacks coming Kichi had no choice but to let go of the leg.  A common attack he’d grown use to was being pinned.  He jumped away from the paw, gaining distance.  It wasn’t a graceful leap as he had been recovering his balance when it happened but, sometimes habitual reaction could save one’s rump.  It had been close, the pup’s skin along his neck had felt pinched and thus only a hair’s breath from being trapped.

The boy didn’t waste any time in running back in the fray, aiming to go straight at Duncan, he made a feint leap up as if he would aim for the top of Duncan’s throat but instead sliding in low to try and get the underside of his throat instead.
