you know im like a ghost

When her head went under everything went silent, like the things around her started playing in slow motion. Her eyes held tight struggling to hold her breath as everything in her screamed to stop fighting to let the current take her. It only took seconds for her brain to restart, her eyes slowly opening as she blew a stream of air from her nose following the path they took to reach the surface, yet another thing that old scraggly mutt had told her how he had seen many that panic underwater and in their confusion swim deeper sealing the lad's fate. 'Follow the bubbles, you must always follow the bubbles Addie.' The words had plastered in her brain from the many times he spoke it. When reaching the surface the reality that he current had pulled her from the hole she had fallen from. Tearing for air as her lungs turned for the needed breath, clawing and pounding at the layer of ice that kept her from the air and frigid water.

When the ice finally cracked enough her body yanked itself above water claws burning themselves in the top layer of ice to keep her from going under once again. The faes legs had stopped thrashing under the ice as she caught her breath pulling the stinging oxygen back into lungs that started to burn with each breath. She gasped like the wind had been knocked from her soaking body ears pinned to her head, only for the shaking voice to fill her ears turning to eye the other mutt that had found its way into the lake for the frigid swim she had taken herself. Was she screaming at her? Couldn't see she knew? hanging from the ice just as she had, maybe best to turn attentions to the other black blob that remained under the ice swimming either closer or farther from land, the blob way too far, the picture too unclear for her to comprehend. "G-g-get-t t-that one!" her ears pushing forward in the direction of the other hole where the black she-wolf had fallen in.
