Jump out of your skin

The sun glinting off the water had roused the young woman from her sleep, she'd gently and carefully extracted herself from the pile that was her sleeping brothers, she shivered quietly in the winter air and approached the water, she wrinkled her nose at the brackish colour and after casting a quick glance back at her still sleeping brothers made up her mind. She told herself she wouldn't be gone long, simply doubling back on the trip they'd taken the previous day, just a little bit, following the sand and the sea until she found the peaceful little bay.

The Delta they'd stayed at was still visible from here, though she couldn't make out her siblings, the ease of her movements was changed now, being so far from them she was visibly on edge, though nowhere near as visibly anxious as she was back in Abaven. The girl moved carefully into the shallows of the bay, feeling the cool water swirling around her ankles, one ear perked to listen for any movement behind her, she wadded further into the water, until it was up to her knees and she set about washing in the clear cool water.
