Broke-winged Bird

The little rodent was fast, she'd give him that much. He went racing past her, nearly escaping entirely before she struck his hip instead. He nearly went down, and was quick to aim a snap at her knee. Torrent pivoted her hindquarters away from him, spinning on her forelegs just enough to face perpendicular to where she'd been, towards the boy. She dropped into a crouch as she did and shoved forward with her head, aiming to bring it beneath the kid's belly as her legs straightened and propelled her up and forward, hoping to fling him. He wasn't an infant, so a little flying lesson wouldn't hurt him, though she thought if she wasn't lucky enough to hit just right to send him flying she might hope to knock the wind out of him.
