Emptiness was everywhere. The sky held no stars; the moon was nowhere to be seen. Above was just a black whole. The scenery below was nonexistent it had been miles since the last tree or bush. All that had past was sand that filled the coat and lungs with dust and rocks that when stepped on the wrong way shot pain through a leg. Wind was scares but when it came, it brought no scent of what lay ahead. One could only assume that the emptiness continued.

The only thing that the night held was a wolf. Her pelt was a variation of browns and blacks with white on her undercarriage. Eyes, one full of life but now empty just like their surroundings where a deep yellow, looking ahead but not really seeing. Her medium built frame was sulked her tail touching the ground below. She was a heartbreaking sight to behold, especially if you knew who she was four months ago.

Makatza, was once the heir to the Virulent Pack her parents where Alphas in their prime. But a power struggle tore the pack apart and left Katza?s father dead and her and her mother seeking refuge in a neighboring pack. Here the high born female fell for the wrong wolf and through a series of events ended up on her own looking for the black wolf she fell for. But despite her three months of searching Makatza came out empty handed. The once proud and hotty wolf had faded. Her tail was no longer held high, and her eyes once full of hope and promise where desperate and hostile. It was the three months without companionship and the loss of both her family and potential lover that turned Makatza into a shadow of what she had once been.

However has she marched forward leaving the place she had last seen her black companion, the scent of other wolves pulled her forward. She entered this new land and her body seemed to perk up. Her tail slightly rose with excitement. Her head moved upward as she smelled the air. Her yellow eyes still empty but not as hopeless took in their surroundings. The scenery here was still slightly bare, yet it held ponds and a few bushes. Makatza made her way to the pond every step was slow, but as soon as she reached the edge she jumped in. The water felt cool and refreshing on her dusty coat. After a few moments Katza emerged on to the bank and made herself comfortable in the reeds. She knew it would only be a matter of time before someone crossed her path.
