Avantika was in her position to help start the avalanche. Duchess was beside her, Kaata was circling above them for a better view, and she was ready. She had to be ready. All I'm doing is pushing a rock. She had to remind herself of that a few times before the sinking feeling in her stomach subsided to a manageable level. She smiled quietly back at Duchess, thankful for the reassurance, and waited for the signal. She set her front paws on the cool, rough rock. Once her older partner counted to three, she'd push the boulder with as much of her weight as she could without hurtling down the cliff after it.
