Ohh, Wee Lamb!

They'd settled in the Kamui Delta for a few days before moving farther south. Lukina was wandering along the shore grasses looking for something interesting to do while Rœkia was out hunting. She bounded through the grasses, delighted to see that there wasn't as much snow here even if the wind was still cold and the sky cloudy and dreary. The grass felt good on her paws. She worked her way further through the delta when she heard something moving up ahead. Her tiny white ears perked up as she crouched into a stalking position. Carefully she moved forward, taking one step and then the other. When she poked her head through the taller grasses into a clearing she saw a strange creature she'd never seen before. It was like a giant rodent… kind of like a beaver but without the big flat tail and it had longer legs with almost hoof-like toes.
In addition to just being a strange looking creature, the animal was doing something on a large flat stone. The creature was smashing some small, fuzzy leaves. Lukina hesitated for a moment before deciding the strange animal didn't seem that dangerous. "Hi! What are you doing?" Her little voice startled the creature who stared at her for a moment before replying.
"Goodness… child, you startled me." The creature, Lola, peered nervously behind Lukina, searching for an adult dire wolf but it seemed the girl was alone. "I'm crushing this lamb's ear to use on my leg. Why do you ask?"
Lukina's tail started wagging rapidly as the creature spoke the common tongue and explained what she was doing with the plant. "I want to be a healer to!" She bounded forward toward the rock, nose taking in the scents of the plant to help her identify it in the future. "What does lamb's ear do?"
The creature moved to apply the mixture to her leg. "Crushed Lamb's ear can help reduce swelling and bleeding on small wounds. It's great for minor cuts and bruises." She settled her leg back down.
"Neat! I'll have to try that when I get owies from sparring. Where do you find lamb's ear?"
Lola started to clean up her supplies. While it was interesting talking with the pup she was leery of when an adult would eventually show up for she seriously doubted the pup was completely on its own. The girl was young and looked reasonably well fed plus if she was sparring then she had someone to spar with. Someone potentially big and hungry. "Well, you can find them in a few places. I found this batch here just over there." Lola pointed to the patch she had picked from. "They generally grow in warmer areas but not in hot places like deserts or jungles."
Lukina gazed over at the patch. "Ok, thanks!" She bounded over toward the lamb's ear patch to pick her own.
