Tell me, am I going crazy?
Artorias

She did feel a little better when Artorias told her he had already been awake. At least she hadn't woken him up then and she could take that as a small consolation. He surprised her when he leaned forward, his forehead resting against hers, and making her heart flutter in her chest. She blinked with surprise, though she didn't look up at him until he had told her that she could stay, making relief wash over her immediately. She didn't have to be alone tonight and she got to be with her best friend. Nothing could seem as dark with Artorias was around. A little smile pulled across her lips when his nose booped against hers, making a flush warm her face beneath her fur as she looked up into those amber eyes. He was always so sweet and she genuinely didn't know what she had done to deserve any of it. From the very beginning she had been nothing but snooty with her attitude toward him, but somehow he was still always so sweet and now it felt like she was constantly making it up to him for how she had acted as a young pup. She followed him over to his bed, letting him arrange the furs and pillows before she hopped up as well, nestling herself into the comfortable bedding with a contented sigh, resting her head on one of the pillows. Once Artorias joined her and they were both laying with a little bit of space between them, she smiled st him softly, looking at him with appreciation and affection. Just moments ago she had been so panicked and didn't know what do to, but Artorias was there for her and that was more than enough to calm her down. She did admittedly just felt more comfortable sleeping with others near by - a byproduct of living in a den with her parents and siblings for so long. Sleeping alone felt too lonely, especially right now. She gave a little shake of her head when he asked if he was on her too much. If anything he wasn't close enough. Her eyes found his again and she could see the hopefulness and indecision in his gaze and she smirked a little as she wiggled her way over to him, nestling herself into the same nest of furs and blankets he was in and letting him wrap her up in his embrace. Being held by him was quickly becoming one of her favorite things and it was most certainly where she felt safest - something she wanted more than anything else right now. She rested her head next to his, feeling that same flutter in her chest that she had when he rested his forehead on hers when their eyes met with her nose so close to his. Somehow, feeling his warmth around her and feeling how comfortable she was here, it made her think that she should have been here from the beginning, that she never should have been sleeping alone in the first place. She thought about any other wolves that she considered her friends and while that list was fairly short and mostly just consisted of her siblings, she wondered if she would have been this comfortable going to any of them in that moment when she was scared and panicked and vulnerable. She only ever wanted to show others how strong she could be and how she was this perfect Fatalis Princess, but not around Artorias. Around him she felt safe and knew that if she let down that facade then he would only protect her more. A realization hit her as she laid here, smiling and looking into those amber eyes that she loved so much. The way she looked at her, the way she looked at him. It wasn't the same sort of look they gave anyone else. It was like the looks that she had seen her parents share. She remembered thinking the night that they burried her mother that she only ever wanted someone to look at her the way her father had looked at Zee and she already had it. The blush returned to her face ten fold at the thought, a little grin pulling at her lips. She liked him. Actually liked him. Not as a friend, not as a best friend. Really, truly liked him. Her heart did a little nervous flutter in her chest, her actions speaking for her before she could formulate words to say. She sneaked her muzzle forward across the very small space that separated hers from his and left the lightest, gentlest, sweetest kiss on his lips, but that was still enough to make her stomach flip flop excitedly, her heart beating against her ribs as she watched for his reaction. |
