Some time had passed since Indigo had introduced Segin to the pack and the wolves of his to-be band. Since then he’d brought another home but at the cost of his whole belly. He’d been ripped open and very nearly met his early demise. After much strife and struggle Indigo was healing as expected, he could finally move rather freely, and he needed to start working his muscles again as he normally would so they didn’t heal back wrong. He wanted to work his mind more too, see something other than the stone walls. He’d been supported heavily by the wolves he surrounded himself with, but Indigo had been quiet since Resin’s funeral. He hadn’t quite gotten the fight back in him after the loss and the physical limitations of his body.
He knew that Resin didn’t want anyone to mourn her for long, but Indigo didn’t feel like he had stepped out of the trough he was dumped in. Duchess must have been out with Gypsy, and he figured Iolaire was seeing to Emersyn, but he thought he heard Segin close by when Indigo blinked open tired eyes. He was recovering, the proof was in how far he had already come. Only a few days ago he could hardly hobble his way to say his goodbyes… Indigo tried to blink back his tears as he felt overwhelmed by all of his loss once more. Resin’s downward spiral and recent goodbye. His brother, and his mother. There were more too, but how many tears had he already shed for them?
Indigo breathed in deeply, slowly before releasing into a heavy sigh. The massive maned man lifted himself to his paws carefully. He wasn’t in danger of busting stitches anymore. He was still sore and still in pain, but each day was easier than the last. Yesterday he had barely been able to shake out his coat and when he did so today the motion was so much easier. He was still tight around his belly, but it felt so good to get his fur fluffed out. What would feel really good was some sunshine, greenery, and fresh air. Indigo went to put on a hide pack so he could gather, but he moved a little too fast.
Pain laced through him and he groaned painfully in surprise. Indigo lost his footing and was forced to rest on the stone wall ahead of him. He sucked in his breath, reminded all too well of the moments after the injury happened. Indigo tried again, pushing himself away from the wall as he against tried to retrieve the furs from the floor, and was again, struck through. ”Alright, maybe not any gathering..” He mumbled discontentedly through his teeth as he fought through the pain and lifted himself to his paws again.
