in my wildest dreams

Segin was relieved when Indigo sat back onto his haunches, taking a second to right himself after obviously doing something to aggravate his healing wounds. As much as he should have probably denied the request to go out hunting for herbs, he also couldn’t possibly deny Indigo that simple request. Segin obviously understood the need to get out of this castle for a while. He loved the grandeur of the castle and the shelter it provided, but after living out in the elements for so long it certainly became a bit claustrophobic at times.
He nodded when he agreed that he wanted to go hunt for herbs and was about to pick up the pack dutifully when Indigo went on to say that having him there sounded better, making the smaller man grin and blush. He loved being around Indigo and loved knowing that Indigo liked having him around even more. The larger male really seemed to have a way about making the wolves around him feel special and Segin was certainly no exception to that. He’d felt it from their very first meeting and he didn’t think that would ever change.
He nodded again when Indigo requested to go to the gardens just outside of the castle and slid the pack across his back so they could get going. He remembered how heavy the pack had seemed on the way back to the castle after he found Indigo and now it didn’t feel nearly as cumbersome. Of course it was still empty right now, but it was still progress and that made him happy. He walked slowly alongside Indigo as they made their way out of the castle, matching his pace to his friend’s. He was in absolutely no rush and was more than happy to take as long as Indigo needed to get there. He was getting to spend some alone time with Indigo so he was going to savor every second of it - even if it was just steadily walking out to the gardens to look for herbs.
When they arrived, Segin’s silver gaze widened as he looked around at all the amazing plants, flowers, and fruits around them. They only held his attention for a moment though as they walked past an archway into a clearing and he felt Indigo leave his side. Looking back to his friend he saw Indigo settling himself under a peach tree, struggling to suggest they take a break between breaths. His ears flicked back with worry, but he tried to keep a smile on his lips. He knew how much Indigo liked to see him smile. He closed that distance between them again and slid the pack off of his back to lean it against the trunk of the tree. “Of course! There’s no hurry. Rest as long as you want.” He wouldn’t be upset if they didn’t gather a single herb. Even if they just got him out of the castle for a few hours it would still feel like a success in his book. Seeing Indigo up and moving around at all was comforting after seeing him hurt so badly.
He settled down in the shade beside Indigo, gently leaning into his side. It was difficult to get over the feeling that he needed to be careful and gentle with the injured man even though his injuries were starting to heal and mend. He just knew he’d never forgive himself if he caused the larger man any pain. Even still, he couldn't really resist nuzzling into Indigo’s mane, a smile pulling across his lips. That same flutter in his chest from when they were snuggling in that cave returned just as it always did whenever he happened to find a moment alone with Indigo. He had often found his comforts from the company of others, but he hadn’t felt this strongly for any of them since his half brother was killed. Indigo was a very special wolf and even if he never got the chance to explore these feelings with him he was just grateful to be in his presence at all.
